At 11:07hrs this morning, as Engine 22 was headed south on US59, the crew noticed a vehicle pulled over on the right shoulder. As they approached the vehicle they saw a female subject face down next to the vehicle facing freeway traffic. Coming to an abrupt halt the Chauffeur maneuvered to place the apparatus to block the scene while the crew requested a Medic Unit and made patient contact. Pulling the female to a protected area the crew found the patient pulse-less, not breathing and suffering from a significant head injury and immediately began CPR. Following 1-round of CPR the patient regained consciousness with Air Medical requested due to the head injury. Upon arrival of FBCEMS Medic #3 patient care was transferred with Engine 22 continuing patient care assistance and Truck 21 handling the LZ. With the safe arrival of Memorial Herman Life Flight #4 the patient was loaded and transported to the Level I Trauma Center in the TMC. Upon completion of assignments all units returned to service.
