During an attempted traffic stop this morning a chase ensued which entered the City of Stafford along West Airport Blvd. Not more than a few miles from the start of the chase the suspect vehicle, traveling in excess of 80-MPH, lost control striking the center median and began barrel rolling until coming to rest against a fire hydrant. During the accident the passenger was ejected from the vehicle while the driver, who remained in the vehicle, was captured by HPD while attempting to escape. Upon arrival of Battalion 21 and Tower 22 fire was found involving the engine and interior area of the vehicle while the ejected patient was determined to be deceased. While Tower 22 knocked down the vehicle fire with their trash line the personnel of Truck 21 and Rescue 21 assisted FBCEMS Medic 10 with packaging the driver for transport. Following completion of assignments on scene all units returned to service.
