At 07:49hrs units were dispatched to the reported explosion in the kitchen of the Pappadeaux Seafood Restaurant in the 12700 block of the Southwest Freeway. Upon arrival units found an explosion which appeared to have occurred in the commercial kitchen from a buildup of natural gas from a leak of unknown origin. With all employees accounted for by management gas and electrical utilities were secured while a request for the Building Department, Health Department and Fire Investigators was made. With employees beginning to complain of minor injuries Engine 24 personnel began assessment and treatment while Truck 21 confirmed no gas accumulation inside the building per their monitor. Following arrival of FBCEMS Medic 3, Medic 10 and Battalion 2 a total of 3-patients were transported with minor injuries. Following completion of the investigation by the Stafford Fire Marshal’s Office all units returned to service.
