At approximately 11:45hrs the department was requested to assist the Richmond Fire Department with an 18-wheel pressurized tanker which had driven into a building. As part of the Fort Bend County Technical Rescue Team (FBCTRT) units from Stafford, Missouri City and Rosenberg Fire Departments assisted with stabilizing and removing the truck from within the building housing a restaurant and day spa. Using concrete breakers and other equipment personnel created an opening large enough for heavy duty wreckers to drag the truck out. The incident, occurring during the morning rush hour,, happened when, for unknown reasons, the southbound truck crossed the center median and north bound lanes of Highway 99, went across the feeder road, thru a ditch and into a parking lot before striking the restaurant. Despite the massive scale 3-minor injuries from secondary accidents were reported in addition to the deceased truck driver. Following removal of the truck all units returned to service at approximately 16:00hrs.
