At 16:36hrs, with heavy thunderstorms rolling through the area, the Light Structure assignment was dispatched to the 11100 block of Fountain Lake Dr. for the reported fire in the hotel. While enroute multiple calls continued to be received resulting in the incident being upgraded. Upon arrival less than 5-minutes later Battalion 21 reported fire from the roof of a 4-story hotel, established command and due to occupancy type, requested a second alarm. Upon arrival of Truck 21 the aerial was spotted to the A/B corner and the crew deployed an attack line over the aerial finding fire in the parapet wall and roof substructure. During this time Engine 22 arrived, connected to the standpipe and deployed hose packs to Division 4 while Ladder 2 and Engine 3 both laid supply lines to Truck 21 and Engine 22 respectively and Tower 31 set up on Side B. As companies opened the roof area and ceiling below other companies completed searches on Division 4 and evacuation of the building. With the main body of fire knocked down, the roof and ceiling opened up and searches completed the incident was placed under control awaiting Investigators. Following completion of assignments all units returned to service before 21:30hrs.
