At 10:53hrs, as a strong storm moved through the area, units were dispatched to the light structure assignment in the 4100 block of Winesap Bend Dr. While enroute, and with the incident upgraded to a box alarm, a weather report was given of winds gusting to 44-MPH in the heavy rain. Upon arrival of 2101 nothing was reported from the exterior of a 2-story SFD and Truck 21 assigned to investigate. Upon making entry a working fire in the attic was found above Division 2 with the can man holding the fire in check while a line was stretched. Achieving a quick knockdown with assistance from Engine 22 opening up, further extension was checked and salvage operations below begun by Engine 3. With the fire knocked down, and additional calls continuing to roll in, the incident was placed under control. Following completion of assignments all units returned to service shortly after noon. This incident was just the beginning of a 22-run day for the department.
