After a steady evening and a small fire at a local fast food restaurant companies were dispatched to the 300 block of Brand Ln. at approximately 04:23 for reports of smoke in the area. While responding Stafford Communications was inundated with reports of an explosion however with no particular location. Clearing an automatic alarm a short distance away Engine 22 (Parker) arrived to find a 2-story metal commercial building with an extensive debris field having suffered an apparent explosion. With fire evident in the rear warehouse portion, and unknown structural integrity from the explosion, Engine 22 deployed their Blitz fire monitor as Engine 21 (Lemmons) laid the 5" supply line and then placed their Blitz fire into service. With the bulk of the fire knocked down and primary searches completed to the extent possible companies awaited investigators. Over the course of the next few hours companies assisted investigators from the Stafford Fire Marshal's Office and Fort Bend County Fire Marshal's Office until released at approximately 10:00hrs. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
