Early on the morning of January 7th Houston Ladder Co. 46 responded to a reported apartment fire in Engine 35’s territory. Upon arrival Ladder Co. 46 began searches of the burning 1st floor apartment as Engine 35 began fire attack. During these efforts fire conditions quickly changed resulting in Ladder Co. 46 becoming trapped inside the apartment. Through the efforts of companies on scene the members of Ladder Co. 46 were removed and transported to the Level I Trauma Center at Memorial Herman Hospital in the Texas Medical Center with all members suffering varying degrees of burn injuries and Sr. Captain Ed Escamilla, also a Stafford Fire Department Duty Crew Fire Fighter, having received the most severe. At this time his road to recovery is unknown so please keep Sr. Captain Escamilla, Fire Fighter Guzman and Fire Fighter Jones, their families and Station 46 personnel in your thoughts and prayers as they recover.
